It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (August 19): 08/19/19

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
Hosted by Kathryn of Book Date.

This is the last week of summer vacation for my teens. My son's birthday is on Tuesday. That's also the day that he picks up his schedule. We'll see how many APs he actually has. He tried to sign up for six.

WIP acrylic painting of a fawn and a cat staring at each other.

I'm six hours into working on "Neighbors." I'm still working on the deer and I might have to redo the cat's head. It's a slow and sometimes frustrating piece.

What I read:

  • All of Us with Wings by Michelle Ruiz Keil; personal collection / research
  • Everything I Know About You by Barbara Dee; personal collection / research
  • Booking the Crook by Laurie Cass; personal collection
  • Murder by Mocha by Cleo Coyle; personal collection (audiobook)
  • Giant Days, Volume 10 by John Allison; personal collection

What I'm reading:

  • When Katie Met Cassidy by Camille Perri; personal collection
  • The Grief Keeper by Alexandra Villasante; personal collection
  • See You on a Starry Night by Lisa Schroeder; personal collection
  • A Royal Guide to Monster Slaying by Kelley Armstrong and Xavière Daumarie; personal collection

Up Soon:

  • The Unbinding of Mary Reade by Miriam McNamara; personal collection
  • This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone; personal collection / research
  • Space Unicorn Blues by T.J. Berry; personal collection
  • A Killer Edition by Lorna Barrett and Cassandra Campbell (narrator); personal collection

Oh, Giant Days! I'm only on volume 2, but it's great so far! I also really want to read All of Us With Wings.

Giant Days stays great. It's ending soon, next year, I think.

Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out

I hope your son gets the schedule he wants, 6 AP’s does sound like a lot.

Wishing you a great reading & painting week :)

He did, remarkably. That's his first time.

I have done little with paint, but I painted sunflowers on my mailbox yesterday and that took several hours. I can only imagine how long it would take to paint a vision. I love the subject of your painting.

So many interesting books---The Grief Keeper, All of Us With Wings, This is How You Lose the Time War. I need to take a look at your review of All of Us With Wings.

Have a lovely week. Hope all goes well, school-wise.

I haven't painted straight out of my imagination in years. These last two pieces are based on photographs I've taken in recent years.

I will be reviewing All of Us with Wings this coming Saturday. I'll get to The Grief Keeper soon; I just finished it. I will be starting This is How You Lose the Time War in the next few days.

Happy Birthday to your son! I can't believe summer is coming to an end and kids are already heading back to school. Time goes way too fast. I really want to get back to reading the Booktown Mystery series and the Cleo Coyle series. I enjoyed the couple I read in each series. Have a great week!

This was a really busy summer for us. I think we're all ready for school to start up. I'm listening to the audiobook of A Killer Edition and the original narrator is back after a multiple book hiatus. I'm not used to hearing her voice and it's a bit off putting.

Thank you. I hope to get the painting finished in the next couple of weeks. It might get delayed because we're expecting a delivery of a new chest of drawers to hold my art supplies. I have to keep my art table folded up to make room for the delivery people.

My oldest will be super busy. My youngest is sad because one of her best friends is moving an hour away. It's going to be an interesting year.
