A.D.: New Orleans After the Deluge: 10/18/18
A.D.: New Orleans After the Deluge by Josh Neufeld is a graphic novel retelling of the events just before, during, and then years after Hurricane Katrina's storm surge overwhelmed the levees and flooded much of the city. The stories follow a nurse and her family who are offered a place in a hospital to ride out the storm but decide to go home; a couple who leave behind a huge collection of comic books; a pair of brothers who ride out the storm in their deli; a family who end up having to send their children out of state. The stories ring true because they are. They are rendered from interviews done with the author. It's a heart wrenching read save for the brief bit of hope in that these are the tales of survivors.
